How to Shop Secondhand Online Without Hitting Zero Results
Secondhand shopping is different. Every item is one of one, in one size, in one condition. Stack a handful of filters and the page can go blank, even though the right piece may be listed.
Start with the two things that cannot move
Your size and your budget are rules. Set them first and leave them alone. Everything else, from color to cut to brand, is a preference.
Read measurements, not just size labels
Sizes on resale items come from many brands and many decades. A measurement the seller took of the item itself tells you far more than a size tag or a brand’s size chart. If a listing does not give one, treat the fit as unknown.
Treat condition and details as preferences
Very good condition, tags attached, a certain rise or neckline: these are things you would like. An item that misses one is not wrong. It is a tradeoff you can weigh.
Look across more than one store
Inventory is spread across many resale marketplaces. Searching each one with the same long list of filters is slow, and each one can return nothing for a different reason.
GoTenten searches the stores you already shop and ranks what fits, with the tradeoffs on every result. Details a listing does not show are marked unknown, and you check out on the store’s own site.
